Winners at the BRIT Awards: Skepta, ANOHNI, Bowie?

BBC's Radio 1 listeners pick the victor. The previous winners are Sir Elton John and David Bowie. He died from cancer on 10 January 2016, aged 69.

He won four Grammy Awards earlier this month.

He said: "If David Bowie could be here tonight, he probably wouldn't be here tonight".

Fans will be given live red carpet access to nominees and performers at this year's Brit Awards via radio brand Capital's Snapchat profile, CapitalOfficial, as well as its Instagram Stories page that goes by the same name.

It will compete against Skepta's Mercury Prize-winning album Konnichiwa, The 1975's I Like It When You Sleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It, Kano's Made In The Manor and Michael Kiwanuka's Love & Hate.

Emeli Sande won her fourth BRIT award, crowned Best British Female Solo Artist for a second time.

It was the soul star's second win in that category after previously taking home the trophy in 2013.

The best female solo artist category was the first award handed out at Wednesday's ceremony.

Shooting reported at Houston hospital
After initial reports, hundreds of staff, patients and family members were evacuated from the hospital. This is the second shooting inside Ben Taub Hospital in less than one year, Fox26 Houston reported .

He had previously won four BRITs - twice winning Best British Male, picking up the Outstanding Contribution To Music award in 1996 and the BRITs Icon award, given posthumously past year.

The stars on the red carpet shared their excitement for the ceremony's impending tribute to George Michael, who died on Christmas Day at the age of 53.

The flashy show at London 's O2 Arena opened with girl group Little Mix giving a thunderous performance of "Shout Out to My Ex", backed by a troupe of silver-pained dancers.

A spokeswoman for the Brits confirmed that a tribute for the late pop star would take place, but did not give any further details.
