Suspect detained in deadly Quebec mosque shooting

Five people were critically injured in the mosque attack and remained in intensive care, three of them in life-threatening condition, a spokeswoman for the Quebec City University Hospital said on Monday.

Police officers patrol the perimeter at the scene of a fatal shooting at the Quebec Islamic Cultural Centre in Quebec City, Canada, Jan. 30, 2017.

One witness told Radio Canada that "the two men were wearing black cagoules", and one of them "had a "strong Quebecois accent".

Six people between the ages of 35 and 70 were killed in the bloody massacre that took place Sunday at the Centre culturel islamique de Quebec mosque in Quebec City's Sainte-Foy neighbourhood.

Police said they had arrested two men, including one who called 911 to say he was armed but ready to give himself up, but later said just one remains a suspect.

"This is not just a Quebec issue, it's not just a Muslim issue - it's a Canadian issue and a humanity issue", he said Monday.

United States coalition strikes over 90 Daesh boats in Mosul
On Oct. 17, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced the start of a major offensive to retake Mosul, the country's second largest city.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said in a statement: "We condemn this terrorist attack on Muslims in a center of worship and refuge". Police say they do not believe there are any other suspects.

Trudeau has described the shooting as a "terrorist attack", according to the AP, saying in a statement, "It is heart-wrenching to see such senseless violence".

Mr Trump called Mr Trudeau to express condolences to the Canadian people and to offer any assistance that might be needed, Mr Trudeau's office said.

"Diversity is our strength, and religious tolerance is a value that we, as Canadians, hold dear", he said. The victims were fathers, businessmen, a university professor and others who had gathered for evening prayers, said Mohamed Labidi, the vice-president of the mosque where the attack happened.

"We all have to come together, people of all stripes and backgrounds, cultures and religions ... to remember and honour the victims who suffered as a result of this senseless, barbaric act of terrorism".

Trudeau had earlier reacted to Trump's visa ban for people from some Muslim-majority countries by tweeting Saturday: "To those fleeing persecution, terror & war, Canadians will welcome you, regardless of your faith". Last summer, someone left a severed pig's head on the same mosque's steps during the Muslim holiday of Ramadan. Practising Muslims do not eat pork.

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer alluded to the Quebec City mosque shooting while discussing the reasons for President Donald Trump's travel ban.

The second man is of Moroccan descent although his nationality is not known, the source said.

The Jamia Ahmadiyya Canada Institute of Islamic Studies in Vaughan has also increased its security at mosques across the country.

Choudry said all prayer services at Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at mosques will resume as normal despite "heightened security". "If you slay a person, it's as if you've slain all of humanity, but if you save somebody, it's as if you've saved all of humanity", Khan says.

"I think myself and a lot of people are shaken".

Thompson's excellent defense on Westbrook and Green's usual lock-down effort against everyone else sparked the Warriors' attack. It is safe to say that Westbrook did not take too kindly to the taunt by Pachulia as he added "I'm gonna get his ass back".
