Media blackout spawns rogue Twitter accounts

But if legit, they show the displeasure many government employees across a wide range of agencies about Trump's censorship. According to the ABC News Sydney, the chaos have started last week when an Interior Department employee re-tweeted posts about relatively low attendance at Trump's inauguration compared to former President Obama's massive crowd.

The account introduced itself with defiant messages: "Mr Trump, you may have taken us down officially".

In response, these agencies have set up alternative Twitter accounts to fight back against Trump's attempt at silencing their agencies.

It comes as several other federal government departments including the Interior Department, the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Health, were issued directives this week from the Trump White House to curb their flow of information to the public on topics related to environmental issues.

United States coalition strikes over 90 Daesh boats in Mosul
On Oct. 17, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced the start of a major offensive to retake Mosul, the country's second largest city.

The introductory disclaimer borne by the @RogueNASA account was typical of numerous feeds, describing it as "The unofficial "Resistance" team of NASA. Not an official Nasa account".

The account has amassed 345,000 followers and includes tweets like: "Science deniers are risky". Not only because they could garner a significant audience - the alternative National Park Service account has already racked up just shy of a million followers - but because attacking Trump on the service is seemingly hitting him where it hurts.

"There's no gag order on national parks that would prevent people from tweeting", he told the Associated Press. "We may never disclose our identity due to the current political ecosystem". Its tweets have focused on climate change and criticism of President Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, the US National Park Service (NPS) has been banned from tweeting after it posted some content that the Trump administration took offence to.

Trump's Executive Order On Obamacare Means Everything And Does Nothing
Departments like Health and Human Services and Treasury will have to issue policies that embody the new president's wishes. President Donald Trump signs his first executive orders in the Oval Office in Washington, D.C. on January 20.

NASA's rogue Twitter account, with over 600,000 followers by Friday, will share peer-reviewed, evidence-based research, the majority revolving around climate change, regardless of any confines Trump may put in place.

Scientists at the Environmental Protection Agency were the first to do so, launching an account after the body was told to tone down the information it releases to the public about climate change. Surprisingly, the list includes agencies like NASA and NOAA, that have not been restricted yet.

Unknown employees at the National Weather Services created the Twitter account @AlternativeNWS and posted "Hi there @POTUS, hope you're enjoying your pointless deletion of science".
