SpaceX launches Iridium NEXT satellites

The private space exploration company - headed by Tesla CEO Elon Musk - took off from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California at 9:54 a.m. PT, aiming to take 10 satellites into space for voice and data company Iridium.

The accident destroyed the $62 million booster and a $200 million Israeli communications satellite that had been partly leased by Facebook Inc (FB.O) to expand internet access in Africa. Apart from the over 60 more satellites (in six batches) SpaceX is supposed to launch for Iridium in the coming months, the company has to make up for the over four months of delay.

The Elon Musk-backed rocket company then successfully landed the Falcon 9's booster stage onto its floating landing barge, named "just read the instructions" - and spot-on onto the centre of the barge.

Simulations Suggest New Model On How Moon Was Formed
A previous study based on the same samples also showed the moon formed early, within 68 million years of the solar system's birth. Perets, who added that, "a previously formed moon could therefore already exist when another moon-forming giant impact occurs".

The payload comprised of 10 next-generation Iridium telephone satellites, which the rocket lifted into orbit.

SpaceX has successfully launched a rocket carrying 10 low-Earth orbit satellites on behalf of Iridium.

This was the seventh time SpaceX has been successful landing a rocket booster on a barge or on land. Reports claimed that the company hopes to reduce the cost of the future space travel by formulating a reliable system of reusing and retrieving launch rockets for their future missions.

CBS joins Hulu's over the top live streaming service
DirecTV Now beat Hulu out of the gate, though that service's buggy launch on November 30 turned off some potential subscribers. Hulu has been putting the pieces in place for its live TV bundle since last spring, when it first announced its plans.

While weekend media coverage made mention of last year's setback, it was the long-term Space-X plan to provide commercial transport into space that grabbed the headlines, alongside the start of Iridum's mission to replace its entire satellite fleet.

SpaceX is back in business.

Investigators are said to have blamed the explosion on a helium tank inside the craft's liquid oxygen tank failing. The return to flight is an important step for SpaceX, a California-based company that has about 70 launches in line, worth more than $10 billion. Apart from clearing up the payload backlog the company has accumulated, SpaceX was also hired by NASA to fly a cargo to the International Space Station.
