Louisville suspends assistant after Wake Forest probe

On Friday, Louisville suspended its offensive coordinator, Lonnie Galloway, for the upcoming Citrus Bowl because he received confidential plays before the Cardinals faced Wake Forest earlier this season.

Virginia Tech joins Louisville and Army in acknowledging their involvement in the scandal in which former Wake Forest assistant Tommy Elrod was sacked as the analyst on Demon Deacons' radio game broadcasts after the school determined he leaked or attempted to leak game plans.

"Our coordinator flipped through it and there was very, very detailed information there", Clawson said on ESPN's Mike and Mike in reference to the discovery of left-behind documents that showed plays Wake Forest had used in practice but not games. Although no one from Louisville sought the information, once it was provided, we did not do what should have been done. I suppose it is possible that the former assistant in question accepted Elrod's information and sat on it, but that seems out of place. Elrod most recently worked as a radio announcer for Wake Forest until he was sacked following the investigation into the leaked information.

Plus, the S.F. defense couldn't get off the field, allowing the NY offense to convert 9-of-19 third- and fourth-down conversions. Hyde finished the first half with seven carries for 141 rushing yards against one of the league's top rushing defenses.

Fact: Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich confirmed that all of this happened.

Jurich stated on Friday that UL head coach Bobby Petrino, who has maintained that he knew nothing of the situation, "has been firm that on the two occasions in which he previously commented on the matter, he did not know about the information provided at that time". When someone receives information they should not be given, it is important that they do the right thing. But some of it was even sets we had run but we had flipped personnel.

Jurich also noted that "none of the special plays were run during the course of the game". "They were upset that they felt that we did not give them the best opportunity to win the game". It should have been rejected and officials at Wake Forest should have been alerted to the inappropriate action taken by Mr. Elrod.

MLB's All-Star game to no longer decide WS home-field advantage
Whatever league won the Midsummer Classic secured home field for the club representing it in the World Series that October. The change is part of the new collective bargaining agreement reached Wednesday night .

Clawson said Elrod was allowed to have "full access to players, team functions, film room and practices". And at that point we knew we had been compromised.

Galloway, the first-year Louisville coordinator, has known Elrod since 2007, and the two worked together on the Wake Forest staff in 2011 and 2012. When Grobe was sacked after the 2013 season, Elrod joined Wake Forest IMG Radio Network. "And we had a team meeting and said, 'Hey, guys, something was compromised, and we're not sure how.' And at the point, it triggered an investigation".

A former Wake Forest football player leaked game information, and now, Army and Virginia Tech football programs have been contacted in the scandal. There was very, very detailed information there. He later served as an assistant coach under Jim Grobe for 11 seasons, but was not asked to join Clawson's staff when he arrived in 2014. Elrod was the point man in a conspiracy, and the minute Galloway walked down the hall and passed that information along to other members of the Louisville staff, he became a part of that conspiracy.
